We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our dynamic team in a manufacturing, production, and distribution environment.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of relevant experience in implementing and managing health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a culture of safety within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental health and safety.
Ensure the organization's compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Maintain and update safety policies and procedures in alignment with current regulations.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Implement and oversee safety programs to mitigate workplace risks and prevent incidents.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective measures.
Training and Education:
Develop and deliver comprehensive EHS training programs for employees at all levels.
Ensure that employees are informed and trained on safety procedures and protocols.
Promote a safety-conscious culture through ongoing communication and training initiatives.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
Conduct regular drills to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
Coordinate with relevant authorities and agencies to ensure a swift and effective response to emergencies.
Environmental Management:
Monitor and manage environmental aspects related to manufacturing, production, and distribution processes.
Implement strategies to reduce the environmental impact of operations.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
3-5 years of experience in a similar EHS role within a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment
In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.
g.
, CSP, CIH) is a plus
Experience with large scale shredding programs is a plus
