The Sr.
Operations Manager in Set Assembly is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.
To plan and direct all distribution and/or manufacturing activities on a day to day basis to achieve the planned production/ efficiency goals.
To aid and assist the Plant Director in policy and long term planning of the plant operations.
Manage operating functions to achieve plant manufacturing efficiency, gross margin, cost reduction, quality, safety and service to our customers.
Provide innovative leadership measured by continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities: Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity.
Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity.
Implement and manage operational plans.
Recognize and troubleshoot problems with production equipment as needed.
Work with maintenance and outside resources as necessary to bring equipment back on line quickly to minimize customer impact.
Initiate and participate in operational reviews and other efforts leading process improvements and cost reduction activities.
Oversee the overall production schedule for the facility assuring that required resources are available to support the demand forecast and finished goods in an efficient manner.
Production, Quality and Safety.
Achieve planned production levels, production variance, maintain outgoing quality at the planned/budgeted levels and ensure plant safety, health and housekeeping policies and procedures are followed.
Develop, promote and support continuous improvement/cost reduction projects.
Identify, prioritize and staff these initiatives that directly impact profitability.
Assist in providing data, information and development guidelines for additional product expansion.
Ensure timelines are being met for all new products and processes.
Set improvement project and operations priorities.
Provide effective production atmosphere for maintaining smooth labor relations.
Live the values and vision of the Company; establish an engaged workforce characterized by mutual trust, open communications, teamwork and recognition.
Lead a lean culture environment through Six Sigma processes and toolsets.
Assign and coordinate the work in a manufacturing department.
Prepare budgets relative to capital expenditure, manpower, production and space forecasting.
Facilitate process improvements through people deployment, performance work teams and being a model for change.
Utilize data driven decision-making processes.
Drive alignment between all plant departments.
Monitor and enforce plant policies in a consistent manner to ensure a positive labor environment.
Achievement of profit improvement goals.
Improve labor utilization by process improvement and downtime reduction.
Consistently execute the Quality System and work procedures pertinent to the position.
Preferred Qualifications: College degree in business administration, commerce, management, industrial technology or engineering.
Knowledge of business and management principles and practices.
Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
Critical thinking and problem solving skills; planning and organizing; decision-making; influencing and leading; team work.
Minimum 7-10 years manufacturing management experience.
Lean would be a strong plus.
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
Hands-on experience managing manufacturing and packaging operations.
Knowledge of Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) processes.
Experience with SAP is a key asset for this role.
Ability to lead and direct a multi-functional workforce to achieve productivity, quality and customer service goals.
Ability to lead teams in solving problems using a systematic approach.
Ability to manage staffing levels to meet productivity needs within budget.
Demonstrated capability in change management.
Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of management and hourly employees.
Experience working in a union environment strongly preferred.
Outstanding analytical ability to understand complex problems and develop effective solutions.
Awareness of emerging manufacturing technologies and systems and how they might be implemented within the business in order to gain operating efficiencies.
Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills to positively motivate employees and the organization toward achieving goals.
Able to apply systems thinking to generate solutions; identify trouble spots; evaluate alternative solutions.
Able to manage progress toward operational effectiveness; confront problems head on and take decision action.
Able to identify, support and implement appropriate change initiatives.
Able to stand by a decision, despite second-guessing or disagreement from others.
Able to clearly present information through the spoken or written work; listens well.
Able to appraise the strengths and weaknesses of subordinates in order to maximize chance of success; empower others to take action.

Provide daily leadership and direction to functional staff.
