ASSISTANT PUBLIC DEFENDER

The Assistant Public Defender represents defendants in the Adams County court system and Pennsylvania appellate courts as required by the Pennsylvania Public Defender Act.
The position includes criminal defense as well as representation of juveniles in delinquency proceedings, individuals facing involuntary commitment under the Mental Health Act, and probation and parole revocation hearings.
Client representation includes the preparation of all documents, briefs and motions for filing on record and with relevant parties and courts as well as meeting with and advising clients, and in-court representation including jury trials and other court hearings.
Additional duties may be required as directed by the Chief Public Defender.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited law school Required Documentation: Online application Resume Cover letter with salary requirement Applications will NOT be accepted without all required documentation.
