The primary role of a Co-curricular Advisor is to work with students to think intentionally, broadly, and deeply about their co-curricular path by: · Ensuring students are aware of the wide array of co-curricular experiences available to them.
· Helping students align their co-curricular choices with their personal and professional interests and goals.
· Facilitating students’ intentional reflection about their co-curricular experiences to help them understand what skills they have gained, how those skills integrate with their coursework, and how the totality of their experience prepares them for life post-Gettysburg.
· Meeting with assigned advisees (up to 400 students) at least once per semester.
· Verifying records of assigned advisees’ co-curricular experiences in an online platform, engageGettysburg.
· Collaborating with other members of each student’s Success Team to promote holistic advising.
· Collaborating and communicating with areas of the College responsible for the delivery of co-curricular experiences (e.
g.
, the Center for Career Engagement, the Center for Public Service, the Garthwait Leadership Center, the Office of Student Activities and Greek Life, the Office of Multicultural Engagement, and International Student Services).
Qualifications A Masters degree and at least one year of related graduate or professional experience is required.
Broad experience with undergraduate co-curricular activities is preferred.
Interest in and ability to advise and mentor undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds is required.
A desire to work collaboratively with others in shaping and assessing the success of this new initiative is highly desired.
Special Instructions Summary Co-curricular Advisors are 12-month, full time administrative appointments reporting to the Associate Dean for Co-curricular Education within the Division of College Life.
