Wilson College seeks an innovative and collaborative individual with a passion for student engagement and service to join our team as the Student Success Librarian.
The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing the library’s Personal Librarian program, which provides one-on-one research and reference support for every Wilson College student through the provision of both in-person and remote learning services.
In addition, the Student Success Librarian will teach information literacy classes as well as provide reference services to all library patrons, including faculty, staff, administrators, and students.
The successful candidate will connect with and advocate for students throughout their career at Wilson creating and communicating student-centered initiatives including Open Educational Resources (OER).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Expand the Personal Librarian program to make a more concerted effort to reach students learning via a virtual environment and continue development of remote library services.
Plan, implement, and evaluate the success of the library’s Personal Librarian program, paying particular attention to historically underserved sectors of the student population, including graduate students, online learning students, international students, and students from historically marginalized populations.
Promote and market library resources and services to students across various venues, including student activities, student clubs, campus events, and other appropriate venues that are student-centered and/or oriented around student services.
Work directly with students, faculty, and staff across all areas of the College to seek out and build relationships with student-centered departments and programs across campus to support both curricular and co-curricular student needs.
Identify and promote the use of innovative library marketing tools and emerging technologies to support the entire research and learning life cycle of the College community.
Work with the other librarians to develop and manage new student orientation programs, including open houses, table events and other activities.
Manages one or more of the library’s social media accounts (currently, the Instagram account), creating campaigns and original content to promote the library, its collections, and services.
Provides one on one research help to all library patrons, through email, phone, via Zoom, or in-person appointments.
Teach information literacy sessions Provide research assistance in person and online, including some evening and weekend hours.
Perform regular departmental services assessments and reviews.
Evaluate and promote Open Educational Resources (OER) to faculty in support of affordable learning initiatives for students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCY: Competency with, or notable potential for, instructional design or curriculum design Excellent customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Professionalism and the ability to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Ability to communicate effectively and constructively.
Understanding of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and ability to teach library sessions.
Strong commitment to patron service and the ability to develop collaborative relationships with students and faculty.
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Flexible and adaptable to changing organizational priorities and technological environments.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows and the Office suite.
Experience in a school or university/college library The ability to multi-task and handle interruptions while maintaining accuracy in the work produced is vital.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Full-time, 12-month position, typical hours 9:00 a.
m.
until 5:30 p.
m.
Flexible in-person and remote (hybrid) work depending on the needs of the library and in accordance with College guidelines Some work during evenings and weekends may be required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is required.
